Go Indians! Cheers from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I was extremely impressed when I enrolled my teen here, this year. Everyone we encountered was pleasant and extremely helpful. After the horrible experiences with Grant County schools, I was immediately impressed with their professionalism and integrity. The school has amazing opportunities for the youth and in a safe, clean organized environment.
Many of the teachers are quite devoted to their jobs and truly care about teaching us and treat us with the utmost respect, however the management here is atrocious and pushes aside students such as myself that aren't in the harder classes or have spectacular grades, they care about processing anybody less than the best, and instead of helping students who struggle they cast them aside and ignore them. The teachers then try to pick up the slack and make their own lives hectic and stressful. The management cares about maintaining a graduation rate instead of actually helping those that try, and so students that don't care about their future jack around and make it hard for the ones that do care that simply struggle and get "Cs" get put into the same classes, further hurting the students who try but don't excel. Sadly this strategy won't last if a general diploma will no longer be counted towards graduation rate if recent bills get passed, and we will drop back down to an F school. We have a great strategy for mentally disabled students and for the ones that excel, but for those that are just in the middle and are average we get screwed over, however I am willing to admit that I am not the brightest student and I don't always do my best, yet even when I tried it was dispiriting to see nothing changed in the first place.
My Alma Mater from long, long ago, this school is famous for its basketball teams and its scholars. It's now located on an expansive campus just north of one of the main arteries in Anderson, making it easily accessible and a pleasure to visit.
If you have an average student I strongly urge you to send your child elsewhere, I didn't do well at Shenandoah because of my own negligence, however they are a wonderful school if you give them a chance.
