They have high standards for who can adopt, and for the best. Backyard breeders who can't be bothered to keep their animals in a bloody house have no business trying to adopt house pets when they clearly can't affectionately care for what they already have. And it doesn't matter how much you'll love the pet if you don't make enough money to properly take care of a living animal with random vet bills or have enough space for it to properly excerise. Their background checks are for a reason. That doesn't make them a bad shelter, that makes you a bad potential owner. Some dogs will eat cats. So, yeah, if that's why you get denied because you already have a cat why are you going to cry about it like a child throwing a tantrum? That's for your pets SAFETY. And you are doing no one any favors dropping off wounded animals and telling them to fix it. That costs money they barely have taking care of what they got. Some of you people are just downright insane and I wonder how you manage to take care of yourselves let alone another living thing... Good shelter, awful reviews because of an ignorant town.
I would never adopt a pet from them. I have tried several times and no one returns phone calls. No wonder they have so many pets.
Place was filthy and so many dogs that looked malnourished. The staff was not polite and actually looked at me like I was an idiot when I asked to see the dog. This is truly a horrible place there is no way ever I would go to get a dog. The outside looks inviting but it's all a mirage believe me. Horrible that those animals have to live that way and have the woman grab the black lab so aggressively. It was doing nothing but trying to play.
Will never come back to this place, my family tried to adopt a dog that has been her for over 5 months, but they don't seem to follow through with there commitment to see that these babies need Home's. And yes this dog would have been in the best Home! Even emailed the director and she did say she was sorry about the poor service and still never heard back from Her Again. So the poor Dog is still there. Makes me so sick to my stomach, that the one that suffers, is the Animals there!
Terrible. I had adopted a kitten from here. I took him home and he's been sneezing, wheezing and coughing nonstop. There was blood in his snot and kitty litter and feces matted on all four of his paws. He's the sweetest little thing and would not stop cuddling me. After taking him to the vet it was determined that he was tapeworm positive, and has an upper respiratory infection and fleas. The adoption time was prompt but the pet care was not. He also had ear mites, and was one month late on his vaccination and boosters.
